Jason and the Golden Fleece-Chapter 1-Wicked Uncle Pelias

Long ago in Greece, there lived a boy named Jason. He was supposed to become king of the island Iolcos, but his throne was taken someone else. When he was old enough, he set off to Iolcos to win it back. On the way, Jason carried an old woman across a river. As he waded through, he lost one of his sandals. " Don't worry," said the woman. " If you go on with just one sandal, you'll become a great hero."

Then she disappeared. "How odd," thought Jason. But he did as she said all the same. When he got to Iolcos, his Uncle Pelias was not pleased to see him. The gods had told him that a young man with only one sandal would come to take his throne. " So nephew!" sneered King Pelias. "You think I don't know why you've come? Well, I've a job for you first."

Jason wondered what he'd say. "Bring me the precious Golden Fleece, and the throne is yours!" the king said with an evil smile. Jason gulped. The Golden Fleece was far away in a place known as Colchis. But he agreed. He set to work right away. A man name Argus built him a ship. Then the goddess Athene gave him a magic branch. Jason named his ship the Argo. "Now who shall I take with me?" he wondered. Lots of people wanted to join the voyage. There was Orpheus, who made wonderful music, Antlanta, a beautiful huntress, and Hercules, the strongest man in the world. Before long, Jason had almost fifty people who wanted to go. Then, with a flutter of wings, the North Wind's twin sons arrived. "You're all fantastic! said Jason. "Everyone can come."

Jason called his crew the Argonauts. They all piled onto the Argo for the long voyage. With Athene's magic branch tied on tight, the Argo was ready to go. The gods sent a gust of wind to fill the Argo's sail and the ship lurched forward. Jason and the Argonauts were off.

Honesty Is The Best Policy

Here read a story about honesty... I hope you will enjoy it!!!

Many years ago, there was a trader who had to leave suddenly for a far country. He did not know what to do with some iron bars which he had. As his friend had a shop, he left them with him. "Please try to sell them for me at the best possible price," he told his friend.

"You can pay me when I return." "Oh, all right," said his friend, "I'll do my best to help you."

While he was away, his friend sold them for him at good price.
After several months, the trader returned home. "Did you sell the iron bars for me?" he asked his friend.

"I'm sorry," said his friend sadly. "I didn't want to write and tell about it, but your iron bars were eaten by mice.." "Eaten by mice! How is that possible?" "Yes, I know it sounds strange but its true." "Oh, well," said the trader, "I knew that mice have sharp teeth but I didn't know they could eat iron bars."

Next day, the trader saw his friend's son playing in the street. "I've brought back a present for you," he said.

"Why don't you come home with me to collect it?" The small boy followed him home. When they reached his house, the trader's wife asked the boy to stay for dinner. After dinner, as it was getting dark, she asked him to stay for the night. "I'm sure your father won't mind," she said. "He's an old friend of my husband's.

Early next morning, the boy's father came running to the trader's house. "Have you seen my son?" he asked. "Your son.....? Ah yes, I saw an eagle swoop down and carry him off." "How can an eagle be so strong?" asked the boy's father. "Well, I suppose in the same way that the mice can eat my iron bars," said the trader. His friend understood what he meant without saying anymore. "All right," he said, "if you'll give me back my son, I'll pay you for the iron bars."

Did you enjoy yourself with this story? So next time better be honest than lying.

One evening, she came out of her hiding place and sat in front of the wise man. "Can you change me into a beautiful girl like Paris Hilton or Ashley Tisdale? " she asked.

"I'm tired of being a mouse." " Are you sure what you really want?" asked the man.

"Yes of course. I've seen how human beings enjoy themselves. I would like to be a beautiful girl and marry a rich handsome man." "Well if that's what you want, I'll change you into a beautiful girl.

ABRACADABRA.........." Then something strange happen. The mouse had change into a beautiful girl wearing a pink dress with ribbons. There was a delicious perfume in room. Next day, when the girl was on her way to the beach, many young men looking and starring at her. Suddenly, the wind blew strongly at the sailor's boat. She then cried out to the wise man that she wanted to be changed into a strong wind. Then suddenly "WHOOSH....." he was almost blown over by a strong wind. The wind rushed past and threw itself against a tall mountain.

"Stop!Stop!"the girl called out. The wind tried to climb over the top of the mountain to the bottom. "Why you're not even as strong as a mouse? Even a mouse can make a hole and live inside me!" the mountain said. This time the wind asked the wise man to change her into a lady mouse again. So he changed the wind into a lady mouse again.
